Every surface on the outside of the house

Stucco painting — Neighbourhood Painters Calgary

Stucco painting

Calgary is a stucco city. We wash it, fill the cracks with a flexible patch and use elastomeric-grade coatings that move with the wall instead of splitting over it.

Siding and wood — Neighbourhood Painters Calgary

Siding and wood

Hardie, vinyl, cedar and engineered wood — washed, scraped, spot-primed and coated so the finish actually bonds instead of sitting on chalk.

Preparation

In Calgary, the prep decides how long the paint lasts

Chinooks, hail, forty-degree swings and UV at altitude. An exterior paint job here fails at the surface underneath long before the paint itself gives up — so that's where the days go.

Power wash

Dirt, chalk and mildew come off first. Paint applied over a chalky surface lifts in the first freeze-thaw cycle, no matter what it cost.

Scrape and sand

Every loose or peeling edge is scraped back to something sound and feathered, so the new coat doesn't telegraph the old failure.

Fill and caulk

Stucco cracks filled with flexible patch, wood gaps and joints caulked, failed sealant cut out and replaced.

Spot prime

Bare wood, exposed stucco and stained areas primed before the topcoat. Skipping this is the most common reason a cheap exterior job looks fine for one summer.

Two coats, then a walkaround

Two full coats of exterior-grade product, then we walk the property with you before the ladders come down.

Why choose our exterior painters

What a proper exterior crew brings

You're not buying paint, you're buying the five winters after it. Here's what that takes.

We book the season, not the week

Calgary's exterior window runs roughly May to October. Book early and you get a slot in good weather instead of a rushed October coat.

Products rated for Alberta

UV at this altitude fades cheap paint fast. We spec exterior-grade Benjamin Moore and Sherwin-Williams products that hold colour.

Fall protection and WCB

Safety tickets, proper access and full WCB coverage — for two-storey soffit and fascia work that matters more than the paint.

2-year written warranty

Lifting, peeling or flashing inside two years is ours to come back and fix.

A crew that cleans as it goes

Drop sheets over the beds, plants covered, chips swept. Your yard doesn't become a worksite for a fortnight.

Local references on your street

Twenty years in Calgary means we can usually point you at a house near yours we painted years ago — go and look at how it's holding up.

Andy Poirier, owner of Neighbourhood Painters

"We're called Neighbourhood Painters because most of our work comes from the street beside the last one. That only keeps happening if we leave the place cleaner than we found it."

FAQ

Common questions

When is the best time to paint a house exterior in Calgary?

Roughly May through October, when overnight temperatures stay above the product's minimum and the surface has time to cure before it freezes. We book that window early — getting on the schedule in spring usually means a better weather slot than calling in September.

How much does exterior painting cost?

It depends on the size of the house, how many storeys, the surface (stucco takes different prep to siding) and how much scraping, filling and priming the existing finish needs. We measure on site and send a written, itemised quote — prep is listed separately so you can see what you're paying for.

How long does an exterior paint job take?

Three to six days for most Calgary homes, weather permitting. Washing and prep are usually more than half of that. We give you a day count with the quote and let you know as soon as weather moves it.

Do you paint stucco?

Yes — stucco is most of what we paint in this city. We wash it, fill cracks with a flexible patch and use coatings that flex with the wall rather than splitting over it the next chinook.

Do you paint fences, decks and garage doors?

Yes, and they're worth quoting at the same time as the house. Fences and decks take the hardest weather on the property, so they're often the surfaces that most change how the place looks from the street.

What happens if it rains?

We stop, cover what needs covering and come back. It's built into how we schedule — you won't get a coat rushed onto a wet wall to keep a calendar tidy.
